Tecnotree has landed a digital transformation contract with MTN Group covering several African markets.
The five-year agreement will see the Finnish vendor providing software support solutions to MTN’s local units in Benin, Cote d’Ivoire, Eswatini, South Sudan and Zambia. Using the new solutions, the operators will be able to provide their customers with cloud-based services.
TeleGeography notes that the deal forms part of MTN’s Ambition 2025 strategy, and follows the group’s recent confirmation of its plans to use Open RAN technology to modernise its networks so that it can swiftly expand its 4G and 5G coverage across its footprint.
Working with its partners Altiostar, Mavenir, Parallel Wireless, TechMahindra and Voyage, MTN aims to deploy Open RAN across its African network by the end of 2021.
The group’s Head of Technology Innovation Charles Molapisi said: “With the Digital BSS Suite 5 adapted to the Tecnotree cloud, we aim to accelerate the growth of the company with a faster time to market, while continuing to deliver an immersive customer experience and superior digital operations.”
