Reliance Jio expanded its 5G network yet again, this time to 27 cities taking its total to 331 across India, as the operator aims to stay on pace against rivals that are also rapidly expanding their 5G network.
In a statement, the Reliance Industries-owned operator revealed cities such as Tadipatri, Bhatapara, Anantnag, Bhadravathia and Doddaballapura to name a few, will see 5G connectivity for the first time.
A Jio spokesperson said the launch is to coincide with the festive period of Holi.
“We want every Jio user to enjoy the transformational benefits of Jio True 5G technology in 2023. By embracing True 5G, Jio will create nation-first platforms and solutions that will transform skill development, education, healthcare, agriculture, and many such sectors, with the promise of enabling a better life for every Indian,” said the Jio spokesperson.
Jio is aiming to connect every town and city in India to its 5G network by December 2023, as part of wider commitments to digitally transform the Indian economy. The operator expanded to 236 cities only last month.
Hot on its heels was rival Bharti Airtel which expanded its 5G network to 265 cities after connecting 125 locations this week.
